Royale KB988FL Two-Handle 3-Hole Deck Mount Widespread Bathroom Faucet with Retail Pop-Up Drain -Brushed Nickel

I just finished installing this. It turned out beautifully, but I had a few minor missteps. I credit these mostly to glitches and inconsistencies in the packaging and instructions. I'm also not a professional plumber. Sharing some observations.1) It's important to find all the parts. Some things are extra, and others are easy to miss. It wasn't clear to me from the instructions that there was supposed to be a "trim ring" on the spout, and said ring was taped to the *bottom* of one of the parts boxes in the packaging.2) Plumber's putty is supposed to be a no-no, because it could damage the finish by being "abrasive," thus voiding the warranty. Of course, the finish I have (oil rubbed bronze) isn't covered by the warranty anyway. I hate silicone (because it complicates disassembly), so I went with Sta Put Ultra. It's barely used anyway.3) The instructions are super vague on how to adjust and align the valve assemblies, and contain an error about blue vs red rings identifying hot/cold. There was no blue or red, but a white sticker taped to the hot valve.It's not hard to do the adjustment, but you have to get out the valve handles, make sure they are attached and bottomed out, then figure out what clearance vertically, what angle each valve should be placed at, and then manage to tighten them into that position. As it happens, if you do it correctly the valve faucet connectors go to the inside and the supply connectors go to the outside.4) I used a square to align the spout against the backsplash and a ruler to compare the distances of the two valves against the sink edge, the spout, and the backsplash, as well as the positions of the valve handles when fully closed. Symmetry.5) I put plumber's grease on every piece of rubber and nylon. This has never worked out badly for me.6) I had no issues with the "T" being misaligned. If you think you have this problem it's probably too tight or incorrectly assembled. There is a generous rubber washer, so there should be way more than 90° of discretion in the angle.7) Instructions said to tighten the drain locknut "with a wrench". It's not designed for that, and probably a bad idea. Hand tight is fine.That's about all. Love the solid brass and the quality of construction.Happy plumbing.
